A month by the lake, the romantic comedy directed by John Irving in 1995, tells about the English photographer Miss Bentley (Vanessa Redgrave) that in 1937 spends a month on Lake Como for her holidays. During her journey she falls in love with the British Major Wilshaw (Edward Fox) but their love is involved in a comedy after the arrival of the beautiful and young Miss Beaumont (Uma Thurman). The messenger of love in the story is Mrs Fascioli, the Owner of the hotel in which they spend their holidays.
In the movie we can recognise the young italian actor Alessandro Gassman.

The movie is set in many locations on Lake Como like the charming Villa Balbianello in Lenno used as the hotel. The lovers of the lake can also see Villa Sola Cabiati in Bolvedro and the neoclassical Villa Olmo in Como.
